To Doc or Not To Doc?

Dr Martens have been a heavy (literally) influence in modern fashion. Dr Martens are mainly associated with Punks. The infamous yellow stitching and 14 hole lacing became a status symbol for punks nationwide.

From the 1970's 14 hole boots to the 2010's vintage Chelsea boots, Dr Martens have adapted to the changing fashion of the UK and Worldwide. More people and more people are buying into the very British Dr Marten brand, including myself owning Mary Jane shoes (these are what I wear to go for meals in) and the original shoe Dr Marten.

But why should we wear Dr Martens?
Dr Martens are one of a few British brands that stick to their roots and remain British. Dr Marten, although a Worldwide phenomenon will always stay a British brand, a brand we are proud of.

How to wear Dr Martens? (Indie Lads and Lasses)
The formal Dr Marten wearer will team the original Dr Marten shoes with black tights, black turtle neck and black skirt. The formal man will wear Dr Martens with a black suit and paisley tie, to uptown funk the business meeting up.
The typical college teenage girl will go all 'Peace' wannabe and wear her Dr Martens with black jeans and a stripy turtle neck. The teenage boy will go all grunge on you and wear his Dr Martens with black ripped jeans and a black jumper (see Van McCann of Catfish and The Bottlemen).

Did I mention that Dr Martens can be styled in anyway possible. Don't just think you have to be 'indie' to style them. Dr Martens come in all shapes and styles and colours and fabrics. Why else would you pick another brand of shoe?

What's that? The Price? Did the price stop you when you was buying into Paul Boutique when you was 11, spending £70 on a bright fluorescent bag? I think not. Dr Martens value the price they are sold at. £100 might seem a lot for a pair of shoes. These shoes last a life time. These shoes will remain a piece of modern fashion forever!

Tips

  • Dr Martens can make your feet smell just a little bit to begin with. No problem. Nip to Wilkinson and grab some insoles, they always do the trick.
  • RUBBING. WARNING DR MARTENS WILL MURDER THE PERFECT FEET YOU ONCE HAD. But only for a few weeks don't panic. Dr Martens do rub at your feet so always remember that a little plaster will go far in maintaining fabulous feet.
  • Up your sock game and wear with some groovy socks. They always look amazing.
Check out Dr Martens online store where they are always reducing bits and bobs
